Trek Highlights:
Tibetan enclave in one of the most remote corners of Nepal, Dolpo combines a set of landscapes: deep gorges, colorful cliffs and steep paths which cling to the yak caravans. This journey is to discover the beauty of the valley Tarap, traditional villages with Buddhist culture that has remained intact and the beautiful Lake Phoksundo now made famous by the movie “Himalaya of a leader.” A trip to love the great outdoors!
Arrival in Kathmandu airport reception by your agent and transfer to your hotel. Late afternoon guided walk through the old neighborhoods and around the former royal palace in Kathmandu.
Overnight at hotel
Tour. Starting to go to the famous stupa of Boudhanath, the largest in the world, and the Mecca of Tibetan Buddhism. Then, continue to Patan, the ancient capital royal. This city is a veritable outdoor museum with its palaces, pagodas, monasteries, temples and shrines. Overnight at hotel.
Flight to Pokhara or Nepalgung. Overnight at hotel
Flight to Juphal; start the trek towards Dunai (2150m/2hr 30min walk)
Day trek. We walk along the Bheri river to reach Tarakot. View ancient fortress town and meet he mountain caravan.
Gradual rise in the forest of pine and juniper through many hamlets of shepherds. Overnight stay in tent.
Trek through narrow path in the gorges of the Tarap Khola.
Leaving the forest and the gorge, you come across the Tibetan plateau. Tarap Valley consists of several villages and Dho is the main village. Overnight stay in tent.
Rest for acclimatization. You will have time to enjoy the surrounding villages, Tibetan monasteries and small meetings with residents of Dho (the dolpopas). .
Departure to the foot of the Namla Pass. The Camp provides an outstanding view across the valley
From the pass of Namla, we have an incredible view of the Himalayan chain in the north and south of the Tibetan Plateau. After crossing the pass, descend to the base camp Bagala walking through large pastures. There are herdsmen and caravanners who still today carry salt form Tibet.
Over the pass of Bagala. And down to a small hamlet in the Roman yak pastures.
Arrive at the famous Lake Phoksundo with turquoise waters and surrounded by the beautiful village of Rigmo, located in beautiful surroundings. Indeed it is the base camp for the filming of famous film “the Himalaya a Leader “by Eric Vally.
Day dedicated to the discovery of the lake, the village and its Rigmo Bon Po monasteries,
Relatively short day, on the way to Raichi an impressive view of a waterfall of about 300 m.
Change of scenery. We leave behind the mineral world. The trail plunges into the gorge and through the forest to reach a small village.
This is the last day of the trek. A long day through green landscapes along the river. The trail is hilly but easy with village passages. At the end of the trek, last climb to reach the beautiful village of Juphal. Last night trek and celebrate with the local team.
Flight from Juphal to Nepalgunj and onwards to Kathmandu. Transfer to your hotel and rest of the day is free to explore Kathmandu. Overnight saty in hotel
