Bandipur is a traditional Newari village where the people appear to live centuries apart from the rest of the country.
Situated between Pokhara and Kathmandu, along the Prithvi Highway, this small village (together with nearby Ramkot) is a real highlight that has managed to escape the ravages of tourist development.

Drive from Kathmandu by Jeep or bus to the village of Bandipur. Check in to the Guest House build in traditional style. Stroll through the bazaar,visit Mahalaxmi Mandir and Bindebasini temple, and watch sunset over the mountains from Thundikhel.
After breakfast, take a picnic lunch and depart for an excursion to the village of Magar Ramkot, where one can still see the traditional houses with round houses. It takes about 2 hours to get to this charming village only accessible by foot.
Possible to hike to the village of Gurung Hillekharka and spend the night in Homestay (Homestay). The comfort is basic but the welcome by the inhabitants is genuine. Very few people know the name of this village, away from the tourist trails. To get there, it takes about 4 hours walk through traditional villages and amid views of the Himalayas. You can also choose to relax in the main street of Bandipur, go to paragliding area, visit the largest cave of Nepal or the silkworm farm.
