In This route in Sherpa country you will discover the beautiful valleys of Thame, and that of Gokyo with its glacial lakes. This is an introduction to the mountain without technical difficulty with the pass of Renjo over 5 000m and the approach to two base camps.

Itinerary

Day 1 Kathmandu (1300 m)

Arrival in Kathmandu, reception at the airport by your agent and transfer to your hotel. Late afternoon guided walk through the old neighborhoods and around the former royal palace in Kathmandu

Day 2 Kathmandu (1300 m)

Tour. Starting to go to the famous stupa of Boudhanath, the largest in the world, and the Mecca of Tibetan Buddhism. Then, continue to Patan, the ancient royal capital. This city is a veritable outdoor museum with its palaces, pagodas, monasteries, temples and shrines.

Day 3Lukla (2840 m) - Phakding (2800 m 3hrs 30min walk)

Early departure to the airport. Arrival in Lukla and meeting with your local team. Start walking along the Dudh Kosi.

Day 4Namche (3500 m 5hrs walk)

We ascend the valley and cross a suspension bridge over the river. Long climb to reach Namche, the capital of the Khumbu region.

Day 5 Thame (3700m 4hrs 30min walk)

We reach the pretty village of Thame, surrounded by fields of potatoes, main crop of Sherpa country. Thame is the village’s of famous Apa Sherpa, who has a Lodge in his hometown and has climbed Everest for more than 10 times. Visit the monastery, 200 m above the village.

Day 6 Thame - Acclimatisation

Acclimatization day. We make a return trip to base camp of Tashi LAPSA, technical col leading into the valley of Rolwaling.

Day 7 Lungden (4300 m 5hrs walk)

You are in the valley that leads to Tibet by the collar of Nangpa La. This is the route taken by many caravans of Yaks to reach Namche Bazaar. Step to reach the pastures of Lungden

Day 8 Lungden (4300 m 5hrs walk)

Exploration of the peak and Darkyachuly Relmo Tso Lake.

Day 9 Renjo pass (5400m)-Gokyo (4750 m 7hrs walk)

Long climb to reach the top of the hill. Magnificent panorama of the valley of Rolwaling and on Cho oyu, one of the 14 peaks over 8000 m. Descending altitude to the lakes of Gokyo.

Day 10 Gokyo

Easy but slow ascend of Gokyo Peak, a magnificent viewpoint of the surrounding peaks. Stroll around many lakes and be able to reach the base camp of Cho Oyu.

Day 11 Dole (4040 m 4hrs walk)

Descent through the Sherpa villages to join Dole.

Day 12 Khumjung (3730 m 4hrs 30min walk)

We will go to discover the famous village of Khumjung, a village loved by Sir Edmund Hillary, conqueror of Everest. There is a school established by Hillary. Visit the monastery where you can ask to see the skull of the famous Yeti. Great views of Ama Dablam and the sacred mountain of the Sherpas, the Khumbi La.

Day 13 Monjo (2900 m 5hrs walk)

We pass by Namche before continuing our descent to our home base for tonight

Day14 Lukla (2840 m 4hrs walk)

Last day of walking and we celebrate with our staff.

Day 15 Kathmandu

Plane to Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel and free afternoon.

Day 16 Kathmandu

Buffer day in case of flight delays. Visit of Patan, and Bungamati Khokana

Day 17 Kathmandu

Buffer day in case of flight delays. Free day to explore the valley (Bhaktapur, the monkey temple Swyambhunath, etc..) Or to make final purchases.

Day 18 Departure

Transfer to Kathmandu airport for the return flight home.
